The journey begins

It all starts a week ago, where I was scrolling through Twitter. I was stumbling over a post from Marcel Zehner. It was a recording of one of his sessions at Experts Live Schwitzerland from this year. It was “My top 10 tips to drive your Microsoft cloud career“, where he was showing his personal opinion about his experience to push your Microsoft Cloud career forward. Together with Alexander Benoit, Manuel Meyer, Carsten Rachfahl and Celine Kreyenbühl he have filled 51 min of highly interesting thoughts about how everyone of them have made their own career path through the Microsoft universe.

After I have seen this recording I also want to start my journey into the cloud along with the experience and guidance from Marcels session. I had the idea to define my own personal key takeaways for building my own future.

My personal key takeaways:

  • Make a career plan
  • Start to share your knowledge
  • Be a T-shaped person (learner)
  • Collect Certifications & Awards
  • Create your personal Brand
  • Never stop learning

But how should I start? Fortunately was the session called “My top 10 tips to drive your Microsoft cloud career” so Marcel and all of the others have provided some tips how to start. For example my first task “Make a career plan”. It is relatively easy to define your goals but it was very hard to find them. So ask yourself some questions:

  • Where do I want to be in the future?
  • What do I want to be in the future?
  • What do I want to do in the future?

If you one of the persons who can answer this question directly. Well done. I was needing a lot of time to get the answers of this simple questions. One answer was for example “I want to have my own Blog.” At least on that one I can make a checkmark behind that.

So the first step of the journey has been taken. Many more to come.

This is the link to the recording of the session:

I would be very happy if you have any feedback for me. Because as you see I am a bloody beginner in blogging, so any help would by highly appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Cheers Sebastian
